For moms who are not able to breastfeed at all or are unable to breastfeed exclusively, It is so important to give your baby the best substitute to breast milk.

There are different reasons why a mother may be unable to breastfeed, but I guess that will be the topic for another day. Finding the best infant formula should be your focus but how do you know which infant formula is the best?  I began using this when my baby was 5 weeks old, to supplement breast milk. If you follow my blog and YouTube Channel you would know my babies
are combination fed. Catch that post HERE This was my 2nd time using Aptamil, I had used this from birth with my first daughter, Zara, 3 years ago.

This is my review of Aptamil First Infant Milk

OVERVIEW: Aptamil is described as "Breast milk Substitute" . It is suitable for babies from 0-6 months. It is a nutritionally complete formula is suitable from birth onwards, if your baby is not being breastfed or if you are combination feeding. It is also described as being a substitute for breast milk, for where baby is not being breast fed or combination fed (which is what i was doing). The product formulation is: Nucleotides, Long chain polyunsaturated fatty acids, DHA (Omega 3) and GOS/FOS -unique blend of Galacto- and Fructo-oligosaccharides. It is manufactured by Danone Nutricia. Aptamil first infant milk is to be prepared with hot water.
  • PACKAGING:  It comes in a powder form in a 900g EaZyPack.
  • PRICE: It is on the expensive side and retails for around N7100 naira, at the time of writing this review. Since it is not a mass market brand, it can be found in big supermarkets and few pharmacies.
  • TASTE: From the way my baby enjoys Aptamil, I would say it is close in taste to breast milk.
  • PROS & CONS: I saw a great improvement in my baby's weight once i put her on Aptamil. It is also good for babies with colic ( my 2nd daughter had colic). The only disadvantage is the price, as it is expensive. As at August 2017, i bought it for N6100 naira. After two months, the price went up and by January 2018, the price had become N7100 or so. I guess this may be due to the exchange rate, as Aptamil is imported to Nigeria.
  • EFFECTIVENESS: It is very effective and my baby experienced dramatic weight gain from taking Aptamil First Infant Milk. People who had seen her months apart and strangers kept asking me "what do you feed her? I gladly tell them "it's breast milk and Aptamil".😊 I would definitely use it again. For hungrier babies, you can buy 'Aptamil Hungry Milk', i used this for my first daughter. I would also happily recommend it as I love this formula because of the great results.
  • RATING:⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
